iOS audio handling: music or podcast audio volume increased to deafening levels while monolgue running

This happens when Monologue is in the foreground or in the background, but the process is still going. This didn't happen in previous versions. It's a new thing. I don't know if this is a system issue with iOS, and somehow the latest version is handling things properly. Now the volume gets all weird, but clearly there's a routing issue as the audio is getting channeled into my AirPods instead of the iPhone microphone.
