I was unhappy with Monologue Pro the last time I used it. Maybe you guys improved it in the last months. But I don’t want to pay to find out. How about a way to try it out regularly?

#Backstory

I have been using Monologue Pro for aprox. 3 months and was happy. On my IPhone I was using Wispr because Monologue was not available.

Rookie mistake on my side, I was comparing Wispr performance on mobile with Monologue performance on Mac. And thought Monologue was obviously better.

I was proven wrong when you launched Monologue on iOS.

I tried for one week, almost immediately after launch. My use case is speaking in Romanian and English, so I need to switch languages quite often, and have ways to correct it fast.

It fell short of my expectations:

• It was harder to enable than Wispr (Wispr is activated at the press of a single button, and changing language is only two buttons away).

• Typing keyboard is for some reason very slow compared to native keyboard

• Switching modes also felt slower compared to Wispr.

• Correcting the transcript interrupts speaking (In Wispr it does not, which I like)

• Transcription quality was not higher than Wispr’s.

This made me think: What if Wispr is better on Mac OS?

So I installed Wispr. It was instant gratification. Didn’t feel the need to come back to Monologue. I cancelled my subscription.

Conclusion

Maybe the product is not for me, but I’d like to try it out once in a while. Every newsletter keeps me close. I appreciate the honest vibe checks. And after all, Monologue is the first voice-to-text app that I tried. Life-changer, so I wish for it to be sucesfull!
